Dogs need a bed for the same reason humans do. It provides support, warmth, and
a sense of security for the dog. It is a place they can call their own. Dog's
have a natural burrowing instinct, and like a place that allows them to snuggle
in.
A
good quality bed will incorporate higher quality filler material to support your
dog. It should provides your dog musculoskeletal support for their bones and
joints, and keep them comfortable. For older or ill dogs this is especially
important. Often low quality beds lack the loft and softness needed by your dog
for a comfortable snooze, not to mention they are usually destroyed more easily.
The last thing you want your arthritic or old dog doing is jumping off a bed or
couch and risk injuring themselves.
The best way to determine what size bed your dog needs is to measure them from
head to butt while they are laying in their favorite sleeping position, then add
about seven inches. The more space they take up while sleeping, the bigger size
